Prof. Gilead Mishory
born in Jerusalem in 1960, studied at the Rubin Academy. On the recommendation of Alfred Brendel he completed his studies with Gerhard Oppitz in Munich and Hans Leygraf at the Mozarteum Salzburg. He appears worldwide with works of all periods together with renowned orchestras and chamber musicians and with inventive solo programmes. He puts special emphasis on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. He was the first to record the complete piano oeuvre and chamber music with piano of Leos Janàcek. CDs with works of Haydn, Brahms, Bartòk and his own compositions were favourably greeted by the public and critics alike, who described him as a magician of sound, as a technically perfect poet of the piano and as a pianist with a sense of sound, charm and esprit. With the premiere of his “Lider-Togbuch” in 1998 he established his reputation as a composer. Premieres of his cycle after poems by Else Lasker-Schüler in Wuppertal and his “Debka Fallastin” in Paris in 2002. Gilead Mishory is a professor at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and is often asked to hold master classes all over the world.
