    Prof. Bernd Glemser

Born in 1962 in Dürbheim (Baden-Württemberg) and experienced a comet like rise to the pinnacle of his profession as a pianist. As a student Vitalij Margulis, he won, from 1981 onwards, 17 international music competitions (e.g. ARD Music Competition 1987). Although he was still a registered student, he received special permission to work as a a professor at the Saar School of Music in 1989. Since 1996 he has been a professor at the School of Music In Würzburg. Bernd Glemser is one of the most sought-after pianists of his time in the world. His repertoire ranges from baroque to new music. Amongst his more than 30 CD releases are the complete works of the Robert Schumann and Sergei Prokofjew sonatas. His interpretations of the works of Sergej Rachmaninov have also been particularly well-received. It was not without reason that Bernd Glemser was invited to Philadelphia by Wolfgang Sawallisch to perform on Rachmaninov’s 100th birthday his piano concerto number 3 with the orchestra which supported the composer for his own recordings. For his artistic achievements, Bernd Glemser has received numerous awards, such as the Andor Foldes Prize in 1992 and the European Pianists Prize in Zurich in 1993. In 2003 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, in 2006, the Art Prize of the City of Würzburg and in 2012, the Cultural Prize from E.ON Bayern AG.
