    Prof. Ulf Klausenitzer

Completed his music studies in Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Basel with, amongst others, Henrik Szering and Leonid Kogan as well as the “Amadeus-Quartett” .

In addition to his work as artistic leader and director of the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra, which he founded in 1979 and led for 28 years, his musical career as conductor and violinist enabled him to play with numerous excellent orchestras, conductors and musicians. Fellow musicians were Morton Feldman as chamber music partner, Arvo Pärt, and Karl-Heinz Stockhausen, who composed for him, Mikis Theodorakis and Pierre Boulez.

Klausenitzer was previously concert master in Mannheim, Nuremberg and Saarbrücken. He has been a member and on the board of the Bayreuth Festival for many years.

As a chamber musician, Ulf Klausenitzer was a prizewinner at the International Music Competition in Geneva. For his work as conductor and soloist, he has been awarded many cultural prizes, including the Bavarian State Advancement Award, the Siemens Cultural Advancement Award and the Cultural Award of the State of Lower Franconia.

Together with Yehudi Menuhin, he founded the organisation LMN (LiveMusicNow) Franconia, which supports highly-gifted students with concerts in charitable institutions.

In 2008 he led the first India-German-Confluence-Festival, the All-Indian-Violin-Competition and debuted as conductor in Indian Music by Chr. W. Gluck. Ulf Klausenitzer is professor for violin and chamber music at the School of Music in Nuremberg.
